The Technopôle Angus, one of the world’s first green neighbourhoods dedicated to employment, just received PLATINUM level certification in the LEED V4 program for the design of sustainable neighbourhoods.

It is a shining example of how any private urban sector can become a truly sustainable green living space, reports Isabelle Hébert, Senior Communication Marketing Consultant for Technopôle Angus.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an independent certification program for the design, construction, maintenance and use of buildings and sustainable neighbourhoods. LEED-ND (Neighbourhood Development) certification was developed to reduce the impact of urban growth on the environment and citizens themselves by promoting the smart design of neighbourhoods, sustainable mobility and economic vitality.

The Technopôle Angus diversified green neighbourhood project will transform an industrial park into an urban village where businesses and families will share a welcoming, eco-friendly, dynamic living environment. In addition to creating jobs, providing affordable housing and reintegrating the site into the neighbourhood, the project focuses on diversity and density to finance eco-friendly infrastructures, such as an energy loop and a process for reusing 95% of the rain water on site. Free from cars, the exterior landscaping is dedicated to pedestrians and biodiversity, generating a network of quality public spaces that, together with the new businesses in the area and access to alternative transport, will support a more sustainable lifestyle.

The green neighbourhood was designed by the multidisciplinary firm Provencher_Roy in collaboration with NIP Paysage, Vinci Consultants and Pageau Morel and Associates, thanks to a broad integrated design process that began in 2012. Find out more: https://www.technopoleangus.com/en/
