Kent BrownAlberta’s 50 Most Influential People highlights The Movers, The Shakers & The Difference-Makers in the province as named by Alberta Venture business magazine, covering Alberta’s business community. The list recognizes individuals who have left a positive impression on Alberta’s political, economic or cultural profile through their professional and personal accomplishments.

BluEarth Renewables Inc. (BluEarth) President & CEO Kent Brown has been named to this year’s list of recipients.

In just five years, BluEarth Renewables has raised more than $250 million in equity to build its portfolio of hydro, solar and wind power assets across Canada. Named Canadian Innovator of the Year by Clean Energy Canada last year, Brown expects BluEarth to have $1 billion in operating assets by 2017. Now if only he could convince his home province to get onboard. “There’s a policy vacuum,” he told the Calgary Herald recently. “There’s a tremendous opportunity given that we have probably some of the best resources for renewables in the country, if not the world, but we’re not taking advantage of that right now.”

“It’s an honour to be included in a list among such passionate and innovative leaders,” says Brown. “When we started BluEarth, I had goals that I wanted to accomplish: building a great company with the best team in a short period of time, and building a company that is built to last.”

Headquartered in Calgary, Canada, BluEarch is a private company focused on commercial scale renewable energy development. As an independent renewable power producer, its goal is to sustainably build, own, and operate wind, run-of-river hydroelectric, and solar generation projects across North America.
