Non-compliant Silicon Energy flat plate photovoltaic modules

Silicon Energy flat plate photovoltaic modules that bear an Intertek Certification Mark for Canada and the United States may not comply with relevant safety requirements.

The warning involves flat plate photovoltaic modules bearing an ETL Certification Mark, Models SiE-150, SiE-155, SiE-160, SiE-165, SiE-170, SiE-175, SiE-180, SiE-185, SiE-190, SiE-195, SiE-200, SiE-205, SiE-210, SiE-215, SiE-220, SiE-225 manufactured from 2011 to 2013.

The manufacturer is Silicon Energy, LLC with control numbers 3182708 and 4003418.

What to do

Modules that bear an ETL certification mk with a date of manufacture between 2011 and 2013 may not be in compliance with their listing requirements and should be removed from service if any signs of delamination are present. Modules that bear an ETL certification mark with a date of manufacture before 2011 or after 2013 bear counterfeit ETL certification marks. It is not known if they are in compliance with any standard. Such modules should be immediately removed from service.

It is not known if modules that do not bear an ETL certification mark are in compliance with any standard. They too should be immediately removed from service.
