Guide to the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 – A Road Map: Section 38
By William (Bill) Burr
Section 38 — Elevators, dumbwaiters, material lifts, escalators, moving walks, lifts for persons with physical disabilities, and similar equipment. The Code is a comprehensive document. Sometimes it can seem quite daunting to quickly find the information you need. This series of articles provides a guide to help users find their way through this critical document. This is not intended to replace the notes in Appendix B or the explanations of individual requirements contained in the CEC Handbook, but will hopefully provide some help in navigating the Code. These notes are based on the 25th edition.

ECAO Contractors and IBEW Electricians Face Pandemic Together

Expansion at hospitals to address the pandemic has required electrical contractors and electricians to move quickly and effectively to help address the surge in need. In such a challenging time, the partnership of the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) and the IBEW Construction Council of Ontario (IBEW CCO) has helped. It may seem unusual to see such a close relationship between employer and union, but that collaboration is what has made them effective in providing safe and reliable power in even the most complex situations.
