TSBC Release New Information Bulletins, Aug 5 2022

Technical Safety B.C. released the following bulletins on August 5, 2011:

Minimum requirements for upgrading of electrical systems 

BC Electrical Code – Section 2: Requirements to de-energize electrical equipment 

This bulletin provides guidance on the application of rules pertaining to the 2021 BC Electrical Code Regulation. The requirements of local municipal authorities having jurisdiction may vary. Installers should consult with local authorities having jurisdiction, prior to undertaking work, to determine their requirements.

Minimum requirements retrofit of luminaires to include the use of light emitting diodes

This bulletin provides clarification on permit and certification requirements for work performed on light fixtures (luminaires) when upgrading for energy efficiency or converting them to the light emitting diode (LED) type. Qualified persons must apply new labels to the luminaire or the lamp when retrofitting.

Incident and hazard reporting – Electrical 

This information bulletin clarifies incident reporting requirements. It is issued with respect to sections 36 and 37 of the Safety Standards Act, and section 34 of the Safety Standards General Regulation.

Approved certification marks for electrical products 

This information bulletin provides examples of certification and approval marks and labels that are acceptable in British Columbia and may not include all accepted marks.

Electrical Safety Regulation application to public utilities 

This information bulletin provides guidance on the interpretation and application of the Electrical Safety Regulation (ESR) in respect to the electric power utilities’ customer service connections. This information bulletin applies only to equipment owned by public utilities as defined under the Utilities Commission Act.

Recreational vehicle

The following bulletin provides guidance on the application of Electrical Safety Regulation, section 21. A recreational vehicle is a combination of a vehicle and living quarters. The vehicle is subject to regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act, and the living quarters are subject to regulation under the Safety Standards Act. 

Approval of manufactured homes and factory-built structures 

This bulletin provides guidance on the application of Electrical Safety Regulation, section 21. 

Underground installations 

This bulletin provides guidance on the application of rules pertaining to the 2021 BC Electrical Code Regulation. The requirements of local municipal authorities having jurisdiction may vary. Installers should consult with local authorities having jurisdiction, prior to undertaking work, to determine their requirements.
