Draft Standard on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Apprenticeship Programs Open for Review & Comment

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is working on a new standard for equity, diversity and inclusion in apprenticeship programs. The CSA has asked for the apprenticeship community’s input into their standard.
If you would like to review and comment on the draft CSA standard, the English version will be available for review until July 28.
This CSA Standard specifies requirements and provides guidelines for equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in apprenticeship programs. It covers a number of topics including pre-apprenticeship, classroom learning, mentorship and on-the-job training delivered in an apprenticeable trade, and for which recognition is given by an apprenticeship authority toward apprenticeship in that trade. The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) has made equity, diversity and inclusion a key goal in its strategic plan. Members of the CCDA are very interested in learning and leading in this area of apprenticeship training, and wanted to ensure that member input was reflected in the draft CSA standard.
