International Women’s Day 2025: Advancing Equity in the Skilled Trades

March 13, 2025

On March 8, 2025, CAF-FCA celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD) by reaffirming our commitment to breaking barriers and advancing opportunities for women and equity-priority groups in the skilled trades. This year’s theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” is a powerful call to action—one that aligns with our efforts to create inclusive apprenticeship pathways and ensure no one is left behind.

Building on the legacy of our Supporting Women in Trades (SWiT) Conferences (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), CAF-FCA is proud to host the first-ever Supporting Equity in Trades (SET) Conference Con on May 24-26, 2025, in Toronto, ON. This conference expands the conversation beyond gender, recognizing the importance of intersectionality in achieving true equity. Empowering the next generation—particularly young women and apprentices—will be a key focus of the event.

“Equity in the trades isn’t just about access—it’s about ensuring every trades professional, regardless of gender, background, or identity, has the support and opportunities to thrive,” said France Daviault, CEO. “At a time when the value of diversity and inclusion is being questioned in some parts of the world, we remain steadfast in our commitment. On IWD, we celebrate progress while recognizing the work still ahead. The SET Conference will be a space for action, collaboration, and lasting change.

Join CAF-FCA in celebrating #IWD2025 and in building a future where women and girls in the skilled trades have the rights, equality, and empowerment they deserve.
