Ontario Home Renovation Incentives for Solar

June 2, 2025

Adding rooftop solar panels and a battery energy storage system to a home can help generate clean, renewable energy year round.* A home energy assessment is not required.

Solar panels

  • Up to $5,000 back
  • $1,000/kW, up to 50% of total costs

Battery energy storage

  • Up to $5,000 back
  • $300/kWh, up to 50% of total costs

Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology uses solar cells to convert sunlight directly into electricity. This can help you manage energy costs, add value to your home, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help maintain a reliable electricity grid.

Pairing solar panels with battery energy storage can help make your home more resilient. Store excess solar power in your battery to use overnight, on cloudy days, in the event of a power outage, or at times of peak electricity demand.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Live in a single detached, semi-detached, row house, townhome, or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
  • Own the home where the solar and battery storage systems will be installed. Where an owner has tenants, the owner must apply. You must be the person responsible for paying for the purchase and installation of the solar and battery storage systems.
  • Be connected to the Ontario electricity grid.

See detailed eligibility requirements on the Terms and Conditions page.

Cornwall Electric customers are connected to the Hydro-Québec electricity grid and therefore are not eligible to participate.
