Hammond Power Solutions Helps EFC Champion Sustainability as First Carbon Neutral Sponsor at Annual Industry Conference

Did you know that carbon emissions from this year’s Annual Industry Conference were offset? With the help of Hammond Power Solutions (HPS), EFC took an important step toward reducing our environmental impact by offsetting the emissions associated with the event. This milestone reflects a growing commitment within the electrical and electronics industry to take meaningful climate action and reduce our environmental impact.

As the inaugural sponsor to support carbon neutrality, HPS stepped up to offset the emissions associated with attendee travel, accommodations, and on-site conference activities. Working with CarbonZero, a total of 132.00 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions were offset, contributing to real and measurable environmental benefits.

The selected project to support was the Landfill Gas to Energy Project in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The project captures methane and other landfill gases from the East Quarry Landfill and processes them into a usable fuel source for a nearby recycled paper mill. This prevents harmful greenhouse gases from escaping into the atmosphere and contributes to the circular economy. The project is listed on the CSA CleanProjects Registry and has been third-party verified under ISO 14064-2 by ICF International.

The importance of this was highlighted by Ted Simpson, Vice-President of Marketing for Hammond Power Solutions, “Caring for the environment is part of our values. That’s why we were excited to team up with EFC to help offset the carbon footprint of our annual meeting. We believe when lots of us pitch in, even in small ways, we can make a big impact.”

Looking ahead, EFC will continue to prioritize environmental responsibility through initiatives like sustainability-focused venues, eco-conscious programming, and expanded use of carbon offsets. With partners like HPS, we are building a foundation for a cleaner and more resilient industry.

EFC extends its sincere thanks to Hammond Power Solutions for its sponsorship and enduring commitment to environmental stewardship.
