Newfoundland & Labrador Green Transition Fund Supports Six New Projects

Through the Green Transition Fund, the Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, announced over $519,000 to support six green projects throughout the Newfoundland & Labrador.

Through the expression of interest process, six new projects have been approved for funding. These include:
  • A1 Hunts Twin Lakes Inc. – $14,157
  • Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University – $19,985
  • HoldfastNL Seaweed Company – $110,000
  • Larch Grove Farm Ltd. – $71,512
  • Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University – $45,816
  • Newfoundland Power Inc. (Mysa Smart Thermostat) – $258,400

The Green Transition Fund aims to propel the development of environmentally sustainable business practices and clean technologies in the province and position Newfoundland and Labrador as a leader in the global green transition. This fund supports the greening of commercial operations, research and development, manufacturing and extractive resource development, and other areas that help transition to a greener economy.

There has been significant interest shown in the Provincial Government’s Green Transition Fund with over $12.7 million in funding approved. To date, throughout the province there have been 40 projects approved and 18 are currently under assessment by the department. This funding has leveraged significant investment from the Federal Government and private sources.
