Arlington Industries Wins Patent with Bridgeport Fittings

 

The United Stated Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has rejected Bridgeport’s attempt to challenge one of Arlington’s patents on duplex connectors. Bridgeport filed an 80-page petition for Post-Grant Review seeking to challenge the validity of Arlington’s patent on nine separate grounds. Bridgeport also submitted declarations from its VP of Manufacturing and Engineering as well as an expert consultant.

Newfoundland Extends Deadline for Electrical Industry Scholarships for Women

July 31 is the new deadline for scholarships from the Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC). This year, six $1500 scholarships are available to female students enrolling in trades programs, including powerline technician and construction/industrial electrician. The scholarships are for programs beginning in September 2018.

Heavy cables installed in long vertical raceways impose excessive strain on electrical terminations, and can often lead to disconnections with the potential for equipment damage, injuries and power outages. For that reason, the Canadian Electric Code (CEC) calls out specific installation methods for long vertical runs in Rule 12-120 that requires cable supports at the top of a raceway and often with intermediate supports installed at specified intervals.
