BC Hydro Rebates for Solar and Battery Storage

BC Hydro has introduced exciting new solar and battery rebate programs for customers across various sectors. These offers are tailored to different customer types, ensuring that homeowners, businesses, multi-family buildings, social housing providers, Indigenous communities, and remote microgrid communities can all benefit.

Residential Single-Family Homes

Rebates of up to $5,000 are available for eligible grid-connected solar panels and up to an additional $5,000 for battery storage systems.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels:

  • Rebate: Up to $5,000
  • Details: $1,000 per kilowatt (kW) of installed generator capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

Battery Energy Storage Systems:

  • Rebate: Up to $5,000
  • Details: $500 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of installed storage capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

Business Customers

Rebates of up to $25,000 are available for qualifying business customers on grid-connected solar panels and up to an additional $25,000 for battery storage systems. Qualifying customers include those on Small General Service, Medium General Service rates, and Large General Service.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels:

  • Rebate: Up to $25,000
  • Details: $1,000 per kW of installed generator capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

Battery Energy Storage Systems:

  • Rebate: Up to $25,000
  • Details: $500 per kWh of installed storage capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

Multi-Family Buildings

Property managers, strata councils, and building owners can access rebates of up to $25,000 on solar panels and up to an additional $25,000 for battery storage systems.

  • Details: $1,000 per kW of installed generator capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

  • Rebate: Up to $25,000

Social Housing Providers

Eligible social housing providers can receive rebates of up to $75,000 on grid-connected solar panels and up to an additional $75,000 for battery storage systems.

  • Rebate: Up to $75,000
  • Details: $3,000 per kW of installed generator capacity, capped at 75% of total installed product cost.

Battery Energy Storage Systems:

  • Rebate: Up to $75,000
  • Details: $1,500 per kWh of installed storage capacity, capped at 50% of total installed product cost.

Indigenous Communities

Indigenous customers residing on reserves and Indigenous governing bodies in grid-connected areas are eligible to apply for rebates of up to $75,000 for solar panels and an additional $75,000 for battery storage systems.

Remote Microgrid Communities

Customers in non-integrated areas served by microgrids can also apply for rebates of up to $75,000 on solar panels and battery storage systems.

  • Details: $3,000 per kW of installed generator capacity, capped at 75% of total installed product cost.

Battery Energy Storage Systems:
