Black & McDonald Celebrate Sustainable Success with Women’s College Hospital

July 21, 2025

Black & McDonald is proud to celebrate the remarkable sustainability achievements of Women’s College Hospital (WCH) — a dedicated member of the Greening Health Care (GHC) network, which supports healthcare facilities across North America in reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

At this year’s GHC Summer Workshop, WCH was honored with the 5 Per Cent Club Award for surpassing a 5% reduction in facility energy use since 2020 — achieving an outstanding 10.9% reduction, more than double the target.

WCH
This milestone was made possible through a strong partnership between WCH and Black & McDonald’s facilities teams, who implemented impactful energy-saving initiatives, including:
  • LED lighting retrofits
  • HVAC and lighting setbacks during off-hours
  • All accomplished without major capital investments

“These efforts not only drive operational efficiency but also position WCH as a leader in environmental stewardship and innovation in healthcare,” said the company via LinkedIn.

“Congratulations to the teams at WCH and Black & McDonald for this well-deserved recognition, and for advancing a greener, healthier future for all!”
