Eaton announced the launch of the Halo Home®, a Bluetooth® mesh connected, smart lighting system that lets homeowners use a smart mobile device to control and automate one light or even a host up to 100 lighting products throughout the home.

With the residential home owner increasingly adopting connected lighting products for enhanced functionality, security, and safety, and even improved health and wellness the Halo Home solution is a unique approach to smart lighting. Where many in the lighting industry have taken a switch, bulb or fixture and made it wireless, Eaton has built the Halo Home system through the eyes of the consumer, to provide a superior connected experience. Today homeowners think about their lighting in terms of rooms or spaces, with each room consisting of multiple lighting products that include controls, fixtures and lamps. Halo Home offers a complete package of integrated Bluetooth products that all work seamlessly together, whereas most other systems only offer a dimmer or a light bulb.

Optional Access Bridge Offers Wi-Fi Connectivity

Utilizing Bluetooth mesh lets users install and control lights directly from the mobile device, without requiring a gateway or hub. Eaton will soon release an optional internet access bridge that offers Wi-Fi connectivity.

In addition to enabling remote access to the lights, the optional access bridge can allow integration with Amazon Echo products and give the option of voice control. Halo Home with an optional Internet access bridge currently features 4-inch and 5/6-inch downlights and a Smart Anyplace Bluetooth Dimmer. The Halo Home system provides a simple and flexible connected-lighting option that can work with as few as one downlight or scale up to control the lighting for the entire home through the Halo Home app for iOS or Android.

Eaton has immediate plans for expanding the system. The imminent release of the second set of Halo Home products will include in-wall wireless dimmers and outdoor flood and motion lights. Additionally, the company plans to enable the system to work with third-party lamps and fixtures with the planned release of a wall-plug for lamps, and a wireless adaptor that enables retrofitting non-wireless lighting fixtures.

According to Eaton, the Halo Home downlights are an all-in-one fixture replacement that fits into existing recessed lighting, with needing drilling. Furthermore, the company says that the Halo Home Smart Anyplace Bluetooth Switch can be placed anywhere with no rewiring necessary.

Halo Home Enables White Tuning

The system can adjust colour temperatures throughout the day or set the lighting to a desired state. The company insists that homeowners can scale the connected system to meet their requirements, installing one dimmer, one downlight or an entire home. The system’s app on a smart device lets users dim, adjust color, a time the on/off of the lights, or automatically scheduling the lights.
