Manitoba Hydro Names Interim President and CEO

Darren Rainkie, Manitoba Hydro’s Vice-President of Finance and Regulatory Affairs, and Chief Financial Officer, has added Interim President and CEO to his responsibilities, effective September 4.

Following the departure of Schott Thomson, the Board of Directors is searching for a permanent president and CEO, and hopes to complete within the next two months.

Rainkie joined Price Waterhouse in 1988, where he obtained his Chartered Accountant designation. He served as an adviser to the Public Utilities Board while at Price Waterhouse beginning in 1989. He joined Centra Gas in 1994 as a financial analyst.

Following the acquisition of Centra by Manitoba Hydro in 1999, he was named Manager of Regulatory Affairs before becoming Treasurer in 2006. He was named Corporate Controller of Manitoba Hydro in 2008, and was appointed to the role of Vice-President of Finance and Regulatory Affairs, and Chief Financial Officer in 2013.
