Canadian Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle Coalition Hosted Ride-n-Drive on Parliament Hill

 June 9, 2017

The Canadian Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) Coalition of automakers hosted two hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle test-drive events on June 7.

The first event was for Mayor Jim Watson, city councillors, and members of the public on June 7. The second event was for cabinet ministers, MPs, political staff, public servants, and members of the public.

These events presented an opportunity to see, touch, drive, and learn about the several models of hydrogen FCEVs that will be present from Honda, Hyundai, and Toyota.

The Ride-n-Drive coincided with Canada’s hosting of the United Nations World Environment Day and Canada’s Environment week, in the spirit of raising awareness of the substantial environmental benefits of zero-emission FCEVs powered by hydrogen. As Canada aims to meet the federal government’s announced greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, conventional energy sources such as fossil fuels are no longer a sustainable option.

The innovative technology in hydrogen-powered vehicles will play an essential role in reducing emissions, maintaining healthy air quality, and reducing greenhouse gas emission rates.

Attendees of the two events will included Mayor Jim Watson, Ottawa city councillors, prominent cabinet ministers, senators, political staff, elected officials, and government decision makers.

The coalition is working with government to ensure hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles play the integral role they will need to in order for Canada to be successful in its strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
