Nominations are Open for the WiRE Woman of the Year Award

WiRE Women of Distinction Awards recognize and celebrate professional women working in the energy sector who go above and beyond business-as-usual, consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership, and have contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the power sector. WiRE presents three Women of Distinction Awards annually: Wind Power, Solar Power and Woman of the Year.

Nominations for the Solar Power Woman of Distinction award will open in fall 2017, and the Wind Power Woman of Distinction Award will follow.  Please sign up for the WiRE newsletter to be advised of nomination dates. 

Nomination Criteria:

The nominee must stand out as a leader who has contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the wind power sector. This may be demonstrated by the nominee through excellence in areas such as:

o   Leadership

o   Policy and advocacy

o   Technical advancement / Research and development

o   Project development

o   Community engagement and increased adoption of renewable energy technologies

o   Being a role model contributing to the advancement of women in the sector

o   The nominee must be a woman working in Canada

o   Volunteering

Emphasis will be placed on excellence in the private sector. In order to recognize the invaluable contributions made by women in the non-profit, public, and volunteer sectors, a new award will be announced later this year.
