The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum — Forum canadien sur l’apprentissage is inviting members of the apprenticeship community to share innovative approaches at its inaugural Supporting Women in Trades conference, November 6-7, 2018 in Halifax, NS. Deadline for submissions: April 30.

This event is designed to bring together up to 300 delegates and a broad range of organizations undertaking work to attract, prepare, up-skill and support women in the skilled trades. The goal: to connect non-profit organizations, unions, apprenticeship authorities, educational institutions and employer associations with an interest in this work.

Over the next few weeks, the forum will be developing an agenda focused on promising practices and great initiatives underway across Canada with a view to identifying the major challenges facing female tradespeople and the organizations serving them. This information will be used to help inform policies and advocate for sustainable funding to attract and retain women in the skilled trades. As we seek to highlight initiatives, programs and strategies underway in every corner of Canada’s apprenticeship community, we invite groups to consider sharing their innovative approaches.
