ABB adds new EtherNet/IP Communication Interface for UMC100.3 Universal Motor Controller

Unique flexible mounting concept simplifies wiring and installation, speeding up project delivery and maximizing uptime

ABB has introduced the new EtherNet/IPTM communication interface EIU32.0 for its UMC100.3 Universal Motor Controller. It increases the existing assortment of Ethernet interfaces for Modbus TCP and Profinet, providing connection to all relevant networks used worldwide. The main applications are intelligent motor control centers (IMCCs) in the process industry.

ABB’s EIU32.0 is the only Ethernet communication interface that can be mounted either directly on the UMC100.3 unit or on an adapter. For the first time, the new EIU32.0 interface makes mounting possible outside the drawer. Communication between EIU32.0 and the UMC100.3 is via simple wiring with no Ethernet cables connected to the inside of the drawer. This unique feature simplifies the wiring especially in the case of redundant communication ring structures. Several drawers can be removed without affecting communication and reconfiguring the ring.
