Independent Electric Supply (IES) is a wholly owned and operated Canadian full line electrical distributor established in 1921. Headquartered in Scarborough, Ontario, IES services the GTA, Rexdale and Barrie areas. Today the company represent over 300 manufacturers with significant inventory levels at its warehouses.

With a fleet of 5 GPS tracked truck, they offer same day delivery for orders received prior to 10 a.m. They also have emergency rush delivery and an after-hours service available at reasonable rates. If you call before 5 pm then they can place your order into the lock box at the side of their building free of charge.

The various departments include Counter Pick-up, Order Desk, Quotations, Lighting Division, Industrial Division, an Outside Sales Force and Application Specialists.

Their specialty is analyzing customer needs and providing solutions to their customer base which is made up of Contractor, Industrial, OEM, Institutional and Commercial markets. IES’ high focus areas are Controls, Lighting, Distribution Equipment, Energy Savings, Industrial Automation and Electrical Safety products.

From its roots as a primary supplier to the hardware community, supplying everything from appliances, lighting and full line electrical supplies, IES has stood the test of time and grown within the industry it serves.

As a service company demonstrating world-class solutions, they have implemented programs to become a preferred supplier. Their goal is to assure continuity of service and to improve the timely flow of information between customer orders, quotations and manufacturers to meet the best possible install cost of each and every project.

IES represents over 300 product lines from distribution equipment and motor control, to lighting and power conditioning products, power tools and metering equipment, servicing the industrial contractor, institutional and commercial markets across the GTA.

IES have seen steady growth since being purchased in 1988 by Bob Branscombe who maintains a hands-on approach. Today, they continue to grow, offering greater economies of scale to reduce the total transaction cost to their customers and manufacturing partners. Adding to their purchasing power, IES is also a member of Affiliated Distributors, North America’s leading marketing group with combined sales exceeding $26 billion dollars.
