Legrand Commercial-Grade Electrical Receptacle Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

This recall involves Legrand / Pass & Seymour commercial-grade tamper resistant duplex electrical receptacles.

The model number is printed on the labels of the individual product boxes or cartons. “Legrand” is printed on the back of the receptacles. The following manufacturing date codes can be found on the outside of the carton: 43U, 44U, 45U, 46U, 47U, 48U, 49U, 50U, 51U, 52U, 53U, 01V, 02V.

The following manufacturing date codes may also be found hot-stamped on the back of the device(s): “MU”, “NU”, “PU” and “AV”.

Hazard identified

A manufacturing error within the receptacles could lead consumers to incorrectly force the plug into the receptacle, causing the plug blades to overheat, posing a burn hazard to the consumer.

As of April 28, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries.

Number sold

Approximately 57,800 units of the affected product were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from October 2019 to February 2020.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately unplug any electrical cords from the outlet and stop using the wall outlet or receptacle and contact Pass & Seymour for a refund or replacement.
