Skills Ontario is continuing to deliver learning opportunities to Ontarians through the #SkillsAtHome challenge series. The fifteenth of the series, the #SkillsToolsChallenge, launches and asks participants to create tools out of household items to fill their “dream job” toolbox.

Through the #SkillsAtHome challenge series, Ontarians test their skills in several fields relating to the skilled trades and technologies. Challengers submit their projects through photos and videos on Twitter and TikTok in time for each challenge deadline, vying for prize packs and gift cards.

Participants submitting projects for the #SkillsToolsChallenge will be scored on how many tools they can create and their visual designs, as well as their descriptions of what each tool is, what each tool is used for, and what their “dream job” is.

“The #SkillsToolChallenge is a fun way for Ontarians to explore their career goals and build their skills,” says Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “The #SkillsAtHome challenge series launched in March, and we’ve seen hundreds of amazing submissions come in. We’re looking forward to seeing many more!”

Winners of #SkillsAtHome challenges are awarded prizes provided by Skills Ontario and its partners. Skills Ontario thanks its #SkillsAtHome program sponsors: the Government of Ontario, 3M Canada, Centennial College, Haas, Humber College, IHSA, Linamar, Magna, OPG, RBC, and WSIB, as well as its #SkillsToolsChallenge sponsors: Algonquin College, Black & McDonald, Bruce Power, CLAC, Conestoga College, Confederation College, CWB Welding Foundation, Georgian College, IBEW Local 353, Kiewit, Loyalist College, Mohawk College, OCAS, Seneca College, Sheridan College, Snap-on, and Vale. All challenge details can be found in both official languages at skillsontario.com/skillsathome.

Along with Twitter, Skills Ontario can also be found on TikTok at @skillsontario, on Instagram at @skillsontario, on LinkedIn at “Skills Ontario”, on Facebook at “Skills Canada – Ontario,” and on YouTube at “Skills Ontario.” Skills Ontario looks forward to continuing to provide fun and interactive learning opportunities to build a strong and robust workforce.
