NB Power announced today a new Business Rebate Program which will help New Brunswick businesses offset the cost of single efficiency upgrades. The Program will help business customers save on their energy bills, help the environment while supporting the provincial economy.

“NB Power is pleased to offer quick and simple rebates for businesses that includes an expedited process, with no requirement for a prior energy audit,” said NB Power’s President and CEO, Keith Cronkhite. “We are pleased that we are able to offer this program to New Brunswick businesses to help them offset the costs of becoming more energy efficient.”

The incentives for this program are provided through the Government of Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund and are applicable to all energy and fuel types.

“Our Government is proud to support businesses in New Brunswick through this new energy efficiency program facilitated by NB Power,” said Dominic LeBlanc, Member of Parliament for Beauséjour and the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. “We encourage all businesses to take advantage of this  initiative that will help save money on energy costs, fight climate change and leave a cleaner environment for the next generation.”

This new Business Rebate Program compliments NB Power’s existing Energy Efficiency Programs and provides more choice and flexibility. It is especially ideal for smaller business looking for help to implement simple “one off” projects that will see quick energy savings in return.

“Our government is pleased to see that NB Power’s Energy Efficiency service is expanding their program offerings to support local businesses to help reduce their GHG emissions,” said Natural Resources and Energy Development Minister Mike Holland. “Despite the pandemic, our vision for a better economic future has not changed and this initiative will help stimulate new investment and economic activity in the province.”

Program participants are eligible for 25 per cent of the total project costs, including installation fees. Examples of eligible single efficiency upgrades include lighting and lighting controls, compressed air, HVAC and, motors, commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration and agricultural measures.

Energy efficiency upgrades for businesses result in time and cost savings towards ongoing maintenance, create an improved working environment and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Businesses can now register online at saveenergynb.ca and apply for pre-approval for their desired upgrades before purchasing and installing.

The Low-Carbon Economy Leadership Fund is a $1.4 billion federal fund that invests in climate action projects undertaken by the provinces and territories. These projects reduce pollution, drive innovation, help people and businesses save money, and create good jobs and healthier communities.
