EngWorks Launches ExHAC Hazardous Area Classification Software Globally
October 13, 2021
Near the end of October, Calgarian based EngWorks will be globally releasing its ExHAC Hazardous Area Classification Application Software and Training Course for Explosive Gas Atmospheres.
“We have developed an IEC 60079-10-1 Ed. 3.0 based software and course bundle,” says Principal Allan Bozek. “It will be of interest to any engineer responsible for classifying hazardous areas in any country that recognizes the IEC standard.”
The ExHAC comes bundled with the ExHAC software, a training course, and an embedded licensed copy of the IEC 60079-10-1 Ed. 3.0 standard.
The ExHAC training course provides instruction on topics relevant to classifying a hazardous area:
- An introduction to the IEC 60079-10-1 ED. 3.0 standard
- Basics of hazardous area classification
- Properties of Flammable materials
- Source of Release concepts
- Ventilation concepts
- Documentation
The ExHAC software application provides a calculation tool to help the user perform tasks for classifying hazardous areas:
- Select flammable materials from an integrated database and determine key material properties for analysis.
- Calculate release rates from both gas and pool releases.
- Perform ventilation assessments for enclosed locations.
- Determine the degree and extent of a classified area.
- Document your assessment in accordance with IEC standards
The training course incorporates a variety of examples to help the user become comfortable with performing a classification design using the ExHAC software application.
As an added benefit, the course may be used as preparation for the IECEx COPC Unit 002 certification exam for hazardous area classification design.
Scheduled release date for the ExHAC Application Software and Training Course is late October 2021.
