Champion Fiberglass has achieved ISO 45001 certification. This third certification is in addition to ISO 9001 (quality management systems) and 14001 (environmental systems management) the company has had for many years.

Per the International Standards Organization (ISO), 45001 is an occupational health and safety management system that incorporates organizational processes. More specifically, it outlines “specific requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, and by proactively improving its OH&S performance.”

Certification is a multi-step process that takes up to two years to achieve. The process typically involves familiarization with standards, documenting processes, audits and assessments with follow-up, plus employee training. The certification process was done by DNV, one of the most reputable companies for ISO certifications.

Says President Goran Haag, “I am thrilled that we are able to add ISO 45001 to our list of ISO designations including 9001 and 14001. We value our manufacturing team and their health and safety in fulfilling our company’s mission. These certifications signal to others that we take seriously the safe and sustainable manufacturing of quality products. Plant Manager Paul Casano worked very hard with our partner to ensure all requirements of 45001 were met.”

While manufacturing according to ISO 45001 promotes a safe and healthy workplace, that “safety” extends to Champion Fiberglass products too. Further, the company’s electrical conduit has benefits that promote safety for customers and project stakeholders alike. For example, because of its light weight, Champion Duct® fiberglass conduit enhances installation for contractors in construction projects with a safe and streamlined approach.

Additionally, the company’s phenolic conduit, Champion Flame Shield®, which is 2-hour fire-rated up to, offers a reliable electrical conduit for train, transit, and roadway tunnels. This conduit does not release smoke, toxic halogens, chlorine or formaldehyde, all harmful to commuters, when burning.

Most recently, Champion Flame Shield received UL 2196 FHIT28E for RHH 600V Applications when used with fire-rated cables. It also meets NFPA 130, NFPA 502, ASTM E84, ASTM E136, ASTM E162, ASTM E662, and Flammability Classification UL94 VO and is UL 2515-A Listed for Champion Phenolic XW® conduit.

A leading manufacturer in the electrical industry, Champion Fiberglass is the only conduit business to have received ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications.

ISO is an internationally recognized organization with membership in 161 national standards bodies. Their stated purpose is to define world-class standards for products, services, and systems.
