On Friday, July 29th, Skills Ontario is exhibiting its Trades & Tech Truck, a mobile experiential learning unit, at the Skilled Trades Appreciation Night held by Elite Welding Solutions, Elite Welding Consumables, and the Brantford Red Sox. The event will run from 6 pm to 8 pm (EST) at Cockshutt Park.

With activities and simulators, including modules simulating auto-painting, welding, electrical systems, heavy machinery, and more, visitors of the Trades & Tech Truck can tour the unit and explore skilled trades and technologies in a unique and hands-on way.

“We’re very excited to continue to provide Ontarians with opportunities to explore skilled trades and technologies,” says Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “Skills Ontario has been delivering workshops and programs focusing on experiential learning for over thirty years, and we’re thrilled to amplify our impact through our mobile unit. Skilled trade and technology careers are in-demand, well-paying, and fulfilling, and we work to ensure that youth are aware of their opportunities in these fields.”

“Elite Welding Solutions and Elite Welding Consumables are excited and proud to invite you to our first Skilled Trades Appreciation Night being held at Cockshutt Park, Brantford, Ontario,” says Bob Bosworth, President of Elite Welding Solutions and Elite Welding Consumables. “As a holder of 3 trade designations in Ontario, this endeavor is very near and dear to my heart. Whether you are a Journeyperson in any skilled trade, an apprentice, an interested parent, or just curious about the trades, we invite you to come out and meet our team to explore the options in the skilled trades. Journeypersons will be provided wrist bands with colours identifying their professional category. This also identifies that you are welcome to ask these Journeypersons questions about the trades.

“We’re further pleased to have a guest appearance of the Skills Ontario Trades and Tech Truck. This truck contains interactive equipment which curious individuals can explore up to 15 skilled trades via simulators.”

Skills Ontario recognizes and appreciates its Trades & Tech Truck partners: the Government of Ontario, Black & McDonald Limited, Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario, Collège Boréal, CWB Welding Foundation, Fix Network World, Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA), LiUNA Canada, Milwaukee Tool, Mohawk College, Sheridan College, St. Clair College, and Workplace Safety & Prevention Services.
