EFC Quebec Region: Return of the President’s Gala in 2023 and Change of Chairmanship Announcement

April 20, 2023

On April 1st, 2023, the Quebec region hosted the return of the President’s Gala at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal. Over 150 guests gathered for an evening filled with industry peers to announce the chairmanship exchange, enjoy a culinary experience, an eight-piece band, and more!

Jacques Fiset, Westburne, Past Chair 2019-2021, at last, due to pandemic restrictions, had the honour of opening the evening with remarks acknowledging the late Past Chair Kenneth Russell-Murray, ElectraSpec, for his service as chair (2022) and to the industry to which he devoted his career. As the past chair, EFC honours their service through a charity donation which Mr. Fiset had the opportunity to choose. The Centraide Laurentides charity serves to fight against poverty and the search for solutions to help people who are experiencing difficulties.

Jacques then welcomed the new chair for 2023-2025, Martin Piette, IPEX, to the stage for his official gavel exchange. Mr. Piette expressed his passion for the industry and his goals to bridge the generational gap further to evolve the region.

During the loss of the late chair, Mr. Russell-Murray, Mr. Piette stepped up to serve the region as interim chair from August 2022 to March 2023. This service act exemplifies his passion and commitment to the health of the electrical community in Quebec. EFC is grateful for his support and looks forward to his leadership these next two years. Martin will continue to work closely with Lorance De Carvalho, EFC’s new Quebec Region Coordinator, Daniela De Marco, EFC Marketing Manager, interim-Regional lead, and the executive team to drive programs for regional members.

EFC wishes to thank Mr. Fiset, Westburne, and Mr. Russell-Murray, ElectraSpec, for their leadership of the Quebec Region as Chair from 2019-2021 and 2022, respectively.

Pictured below, Jacques and Martin officially acknowledge the change in leadership.

The evening included:
  • An open bar cocktail hour (sponsored by Wesco) that served delectable hors d’oeuvres
  • Live entertainment from an eight-piece “Carter and The Boomers” orchestra band
  • DJ Magic Franky, who had members dancing passed midnight, and
  • An instant print mirror photo booth (sponsored by the YPN Quebec region).

Members danced, networked, and enjoyed a memorable evening with colleagues, friends, and spouses. Thank you to everyone for making it a night to remember for the region.
