Leviton’s MILLENNIUM™ Global Copper Systems Offering Expands to Include Industry’s Smallest Cat 6A Cable Family

October 4, 2024

Leviton announced the availability of two new MILLENNIUM™ global copper systems enhanced with market leading RDT cables. RDT is the industry’s smallest outer diameter line of Cat 6A UTP cabling. The Cat 6A cable supports networking speeds up to 10 Gbps, while the small diameter makes it ideal for enterprise environments where space is at a premium.

RDT cables are part of two Leviton Cat 6A end-to-end systems: the ATLAS-X1™ RDT MILLENNIUM system, featuring the highest-performing ATLAS-X1 jack, and the EXTREME™ RDT MILLENNIUM System, with the high-performance EXTREME jack. Both jacks feature Leviton Patented Retention Force Technology™ (RFT), a unique polymer spring that supports jack tines, increasing their resistance to strain and damage, thus extending jack life, enhancing system longevity and preventing contractor call backs.

In addition to RFT, these new systems achieve their exceptional performance through Leviton’s Precision Twist Technology. This unique manufacturing method meticulously controls the twist rate of each pair in RDT cable, allowing industry-leading transmission performance above the standards for alien crosstalk in the smallest cable. Precision Twist Technology was developed over many years of manufacturing experience and through the production of billions of feet of cable within Leviton Manufacturing facilities.

“Leviton’s MILLENNIUM RDT systems allow our customers to get an excellent return on infrastructure investment,” said Todd Harpel, senior director of global copper cable, Leviton Network Solutions. “Now, with a new packaging option, RDT cables improve installation efficiency and reduce jobsite waste with fully recyclable packaging.”

Additionally, RDT Cat 6A UTP plenum, riser, and CPR cables are more sustainable, as the reduced size and weight allow for carbon footprint reduction in manufacturing and transportation. These cables are also available globally in easy-to-use pull box packaging. The new TEKPAK™ pull boxes include the patented TekLok™ tab system to keep box stacks stable during cable deployment, allowing RDT Cat 6A UTP cable to be easily carried, stacked, and pulled.

Advantages of the TEKPAK pull box:

  • Pull box packaging is 100% recyclable and reduces jobsite waste
  • No need for cumbersome reel carts, payoff stands or reel brakes
  • Boxes are stackable, offering a smaller physical footprint
  • A minimum of 60% recycled content is used in the production of the box packaging
