Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada Inc. Announces New Lower GWP Heat Pump Products

February 2, 2025

Mitsubishi Electric Sales Canada Inc. (MESCA) announces its upcoming launch of a new line of products utilizing a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant. This marks a significant step forward in the environmental sustainability of its light commercial and residential heating and air-conditioning solutions. These new products will be available in 2025.

The innovative product line, designed for both light commercial and residential applications, has been developed to meet or exceed applicable A2L standards without sacrificing performance. The new residential and mini-VRF products feature R-454B – a next-generation A2L refrigerant with a GWP of just 466, which is nearly 78% lower than that of R-410A. MESCA is committed to providing products with low-GWP refrigerants to uphold the company’s values of environmental stewardship. This approach is also aligned with the HFC consumption phase-down schedule set by the Canadian government.

In addition to environmental benefits, Mitsubishi Electric’s new systems are equipped with additional and advanced safety features tailored to handle A2L refrigerants. Many of Mitsubishi Electric’s new systems feature safety measures such as built-in leak detection sensors, shut-off valves, alarms, push notifications, smart control logic and more, promoting safe operation and ease of installation and service.
