Horizon Utilities – Foodland Partnership Saves Over 53,000 kWh Annually

A lighting retrofit of Mount Albion Foodlandin Hamilton, ON —conducted with assistance from Horizon Utilities — will save an estimated 53,121 kWh per year.Horizon Utilities’ conservation and demand management teams worked with Mount Albion Foodland to find greater efficiencies and accessing incentives offered bythe Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

Mount Albion Foodland replaced much of the lighting throughout the store to improve the appearance as well as becoming more energy efficient by replacing outdated incandescent lighting with new LED refrigerator strip lighting and ceiling LED troffers. Beyond the significant energy savings, the local grocery store qualified for a $22,840.00 saveONenergy retrofit incentive for dramatically reducing the facility’s energy consumption.
