IESO Launches Energy Partnerships Program

IESO Launches Energy Partnerships Program

May 26, 2016

The IESO is launching the Energy Partnerships Program (EPP) to support the participation of Indigenous communities, co-operatives, municipalities and public sector entities in Ontario’s energy sector.

The final EPP Rules and a summary of changes will be available in mid-June, and the IESO will begin accepting applications by the end of June 2016.

The EPP is designed to streamline and consolidate the following support programs:

  • Community Energy Partnerships Program (CEPP)
  • Municipal and Public Sector Energy Partnerships Program (MPSEPP)
  • Aboriginal Renewable Energy Fund (AREF)
  • Aboriginal Transmission Fund (ATF) Program

Draft rules for the EPP were posted in May 2015 for comment and feedback. Since then, the IESO has undertaken a comprehensive review of all its funding support programs and continued to develop the EPP to ensure the new consolidated and streamlined rules reflected any findings and potential improvements from this review. The EPP consists of two funding streams:

  • Partnership
  • Project Development, which includes the Remote Project Development Sub-stream
