Hydro-Québec Gives Seven-figure Gift to Concordia University

Critical research into sustainable energy and smart-grid security is receiving a major boost at Concordia, thanks to a seven-figure donation from Hydro-Québec. In addition to supporting three research chairs, the generous gift aims to attract top students to the university by providing 68 merit-based student awards.

The three chairs will focus on:

– Smart grid security — the first chair of its kind in Canada

– Optimized operation and energy efficiency for buildings

– Design and performance of small electrical machines
