New: Lighting Controls Association Troubleshooting Guide for Networked Lighting Control Systems

Troubleshooting

May 18, 2018

The Lighting Controls Association (LCA) has published guidance on troubleshooting networked lighting control systems.

Networked lighting controls can reduce lighting energy costs by an average 47%, while providing extraordinary potential additional benefits such as flexibility, programmability, and analytics. However, these systems may present troubleshooting situations unfamiliar to some electrical contractors.

Developed by Steve Mesh, LC, the Lighting Controls Association’s Networked Lighting Control Systems Troubleshooting Guide provides guidance to address performance issues that may occur in the field. Symptoms along with a process of identifying and correcting common causes are presented in a tabular format. Designed as a supplement to manufacturer instructions (not a replacement), it provides generic, manufacturer-agnostic guidance that may be considered prior to contacting the manufacturer for support. Sensors (both wired and wireless), dimmers/switches, luminaire controllers, and servers/gateways are all covered in individual sections.

The Networked Lighting Control Systems Troubleshooting Guide is available free. Download it here, , along with other helpful resources from the lighting controls industry: http://lightingcontrolsassociation.org/resources/
