Onyx Engineering has been registered to Intertek’s ETL Panel Builder Certification Program for Industrial Control Panels.  Panels bearing the mark certify that they were tested to UL 508A 2nd and CSA C22.2 No.14 standards.   The ETL Listed Mark is accepted by regulatory authorities in every jurisdiction in the United States and Canada.

UL 508A is required for industrial control panels intended for general industrial use in the United States, operating from a voltage of 1000 volts or less.  The panels are intended for installation in ordinary locations, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, where the ambient temperature does not exceed 40 degrees C.

CSA C22.2 standard covers industrial control panels and assemblies rated at not more than 1500V, intended to be installed and used in non-hazardous locations in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1.

The ETL standard ensures that every aspect of our panel fabrications business is well-run and continually improving, including key processes, management roles and responsibilities, documentation, customer satisfaction, employee training, service and internal audits. The process of upgrading our build process began last year when we decided to expand our market presence by achieving the necessary steps to become a certified panel build organization. Pursuing ETL certification was a logical next step for improving our system while growing our business.

This certification strengthens Onyx Engineering’s competitive position and standardizes our quality processes across all of our programs. The ETL Panel Builder Program covers proper component usage, enclosure environmental ratings, and conformance to National Electric Code (NEC) and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) standards.
