Ontario Energy Conservation Grant Funds Industrial Project Promising to Save $2 Million Annually

Industrial Conservation Grants

Ontario Minister of Energy Bob Chiarelli has announced one of the largest saveONenergy industrial conservation incentive grants ever issued in Ontario.

Chiarelli made the announcement while participating in a tour of Air Liquide’s new $12 million oxygen pipeline connecting its air separation complex in Hamilton to Arcelor Mittal Dofasco’s steel making facilities. The new pipeline will supply the oxygen with much more energy efficiency.

Once completed, the project will reduce the electrical energy consumption at Air Liquide’s Hamilton operation by 29,000 MWh/year for a $2 million in annual savings in operating costs.

Horizon Utilities assisted Air Liquide in the application process for this ambitious project, with the company receiving a $5.6 million incentive grant through the IESO’s save ONenergyprogram.

“Assisting Air Liquide on a project that so dramatically reduces energy consumption and business costs for the company’s operations in Hamilton gives me great satisfaction,” said Max Cananzi, CEO of Horizon Utilities. “By taking advantage of saveONenergy programs through Horizon, customers can help fund energy efficient solutions that better manage their electricity costs and allow them to do their part for the environment. It’s a win-win.”
