Leviton Introduces Mini EV Charging Station

Leviton EVR

Leviton’s Evr-Green Mini Level 2 electric vehicle charging station, the latest edition to the Evr-Green line of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) comes standard with a 12-foot and optional 18-foot cable, and works with 30 amp circuits commonly used with electrical dryers found in residential garages. This makes the new charging station appealing for EV owners on the move.

The Evr-Green Mini is Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and NormasOficialesMexicanas (NOM) listed, and meets all national electric codes for electric vehicle supply equipment. The Evr-Green Mini enclosure is rated for temporary submersion and can withstand extreme weather environments. The new station features a ground monitor interrupter circuit and over temperature protection, an important safety feature that disables charging of your electric vehicle in the event of loss of ground or if an over temperature condition exists.

“As part of our partnerships with many of the leading national automakers, we’ve learned that more than 80% of our residential customers have electrical panels near where they park,” saysManojKarwa, Senior Director for Leviton’s Commercial & Industrial Business Unit.“The Evr-Green Mini was designed to deliver a lower total cost for Level 2 charging, which includes the product, installation and permitting. The Evr-Green Mini delivers an improved charging time that is nearly five times faster than standard cordsets, the enclosure weighs about two pounds, and is compact enough to easily fit in your hand, all at a total installed price of about $500. We believe this product will drive an increased proliferation of Level 2 charging throughout North America.”

The new Evr-Green Mini Level 2 has gone through rigorous automaker compatibility tests and works with production electric vehicles available in North America. It comes with a two-year limited warranty and will be available through Leviton’s distribution channels: e-store, electrical distributors, retail partners and automakers starting in November 2015.
