During the Closing Ceremony, RBC also presented an award called the RBC Best of Region Awards to a competitor, or competitors, from each province and territory with the best-weighted score. For Ontario, the RBC Best of Region Award was presented to Team Ontario competitor Owen Griffin of Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, who won gold in the Mechanical CAD secondary contest.

“We congratulate all our competitors for their success. Advancing to the national level of competing is no small achievement, and these young people have worked hard at developing their skills for this event. The future of Ontario is in good hands with these youth who are inspiring others to become skilled trade and technology leaders,” said Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario.

Team Ontario is represented by the top competitors advancing from the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition which took place earlier in May at the Toronto Congress Centre. At the national level, these competitors competed against the best skilled trade and technology competitors from across the country.

This year is a WorldSkills Team Canada Qualifying year for the opportunity to compete to represent Canada at WorldSkills in Shanghai, China, 2026. In September, four team Ontario competitors from three contests will be travelling to compete as part of Team Canada at WorldSkills in Shanghai, China. The following Ontario youth competing as part of WorldSkills Team Canada include Ethan Almeida of Centennial College (Autobody Repair), Luca Assad of George Brown Polytechnic (Cooking), and Cole Hunter & Grant Maddock of Humber Polytechnic (Mechatronics).
