Survey Says: Contractor Salaries By City

Industry as we know it is changing rapidly – from a shortage of skilled workers and high turnover to advancements in connectivity and IoT. Innovation is driving us to augment in-house experience and institutional knowledge with intuitive technology and partner support.
This graph shows years of experience for lighting designers by percentage. Of those surveyed, only 24% have more than 10 years of experience.
Residential building construction prices rose 7.5% in the second quarter, the largest increase since the series began in 2017, accelerating from a 4.9% increase in the first quarter. Non-residential building construction prices (+3.7%) grew at their fastest pace since the second quarter of 2008.
Much has been written about the moral value and legality of paying interns versus not paying interns. While those arguments may work with some, there will always be those who cannot be persuaded by anything but the business case. So here it is.
From 2015 to 2016, journeyman electricians overtook the lead from project management professionals. See how well contractors in 6 other categories did.
Investment in non-residential building construction declined for the fifth consecutive quarter, down 1.6% from the previous quarter to $12.5 billion in the first quarter. Nationally, the decrease resulted from lower spending in all three components, with commercial buildings accounting for most of the decline.
