Alberta continues to lead the country with the highest hourly rate for electrical contractors, followed closely by Manitoba. New Brunswick has the lowest hourly rate.
Of those surveyed, Calgary out paces any other location by just under $10,000. Perhaps due to the oil industry in Alberta, as Edmonton is also lucrative for Project Engineers in the Energy Sector.
Experience level by percentage for mechanical engineers shows that the majority of mechanical engineers are in the early phase of the career, which may bode well for the future of the industry with respect to employment trends.
The lighting market in Canada is dominated by the residential and commerical sectors, which together account for 88% of the overall market. Industrial follows with just 9% of market share.
The CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety Standard, both the 2015 edition and the 2018 edition, require that a mandatory risk assessment procedure be completed for discrete energized electrical work tasks. This fact may not be known, or may be misinterpreted by the employer who is applying CSA Z462 as a basis of due diligence with respect to workplace health and safety regulations.
