Built in Canada and Backed by EB Horsman & Son

July 3, 2026

By EB Horsman & Son

On July 1, Canadians come together to celebrate Canada Day, a time to reflect on what unites us from coast to coast and the people, places, and industries that help build this country.

At EB Horsman & Son, that pride runs deep. It is part of our Western Canadian roots and reflected in the Canadian manufacturers and suppliers we are proud to stock, brands helping power, build, and connect communities across the country every day.

A Canadian story that started out West

EBH’s story begins in 1900, with a small hardware store in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. From there, the business expanded westward – opening a Vancouver shop in 1907 – and eventually evolving into a dedicated electrical wholesaler. Today, EBH continues to serve customers across B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan. We’re still proudly Canadian-owned and operated, and still rooted in the communities where we live and work.

That’s why Canadian-made products matter so much to us. When we choose solutions and tools that are designed, engineered, and manufactured here, we’re supporting local expertise, resilient supply chains, and products built for Canadian standards, climates, and jobsite realities.

Canada has a long history of innovation in electrical, lighting, automation, and industrial products, and we are proud to partner with suppliers who continue to move that legacy forward. Here are just a few of the Canadian brands we are proud to stand behind this Canada Day.

Canadian lighting products made here, built for here

RAB Design Lighting: local engineering and production in Toronto

RAB Design Lighting blends reliability with modern innovation, with engineering, production, and assembly based in Toronto. Their local footprint allows for faster response times and customization, a key advantage on time sensitive projects.

Liteline: Canadian innovation for everyday spaces

Liteline is one of Canada’s largest independent, family-owned lighting manufacturers, with operations based in Ontario. The brand is known for its innovative design, installation efficiency, and practical performance across residential and commercial applications. We stock Liteline downlightsarchitectural strip lighting, task lighting, and more.

Signify-Genlyte Solutions Canada: engineered and manufactured in Langley, B.C.

Signify is a global lighting leader with a strong Canadian footprint. In Canada, its Genlyte Solutions portfolio supports commercial and architectural LED lighting (indoor and outdoor) backed by manufacturing in Langley, B.C. EB Horsman & Son works with Signify Canada to support projects across Western Canada with solutions designed for performance, efficiency, and spec-driven environments.

ABB Emergilite

Emergi-Lite by ABB Electrification provides emergency lighting and exit signs designed for dependable performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. Supported by ABB’s Global Technology Development Center for Emergency Lighting in Montreal, Emergi-Lite solutions are built to meet North American quality standards while prioritizing safety, ease of installation, and long-term reliability.

Canadian-made installation products: Built for Canadian code and climate

ABB: Made-in-Canada installation products for contractors

When you’re on-site and under pressure, product availability and code compliance matter. That’s why many contractors across Western Canada turn to ABB’s made-in-Canada installation products. ABB products are engineered in Canada for Canadian environments, and designed to meet Canadian Electrical Code and CSA standards – with materials suited to Canadian climate conditions, including cold-weather installs.

Western Canadian fabrication and enclosures

Code Electric: B.C.-founded, built for custom needs

For projects that require custom fabrication, local capability can be a major advantage. Code Electric is a B.C.-based, second-generation family-run manufacturer known for enclosures, kiosks, cable tray, and precision custom products. Previously we’ve talked about their commitment to CSA standards – and the value of detailed planning tools like 3D CAD drawings for custom builds.

Canadian-made industrial and electrical equipment that keeps work moving

Siemens: engineered, assembled, and manufactured in Canada

EBH is proud to offer Siemens electrical products that are engineered, assembled, and manufactured in Canada. Siemens continues to invest in Canadian manufacturing, including modernization at its facility in Drummondville, Quebec.

Siemens also manufactures process instrumentation in Peterborough, Ontario – solutions that support industries across Canada with products like flow meters, pressure and temperature transmitters, and more.

Job-box essentials that support Canadian-made choices

IDEAL wire connectors: proudly made in Canada

Sometimes the most practical “buy Canadian” decisions are the ones you make every day.  IDEAL Electrical’s Can-Twist and Canadian WireTwist connectors are proudly made in Canada, designed for reliability, ergonomics, and secure connections – plus CSA certification for professional use.

If you’d like to prioritize Canadian-made products on an upcoming project, our team can help you identify options – from lighting and emergency signage to enclosures, fittings, cable management, industrial instrumentation, and job-site essentials.
