Schneider Electric Launches Digitally Enabled SureSeT Medium Voltage Switchgear in Canada

February 15, 2024

Schneider Electric has announced the upcoming launch of its new SureSeT Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear offering for the Canadian market. This new and improved solution backed by the innovative and award-winning EvoPacT circuit breaker, has been designed to address the needs for primary switchgear applications with a smaller, stronger, and smarter solution capable of managing digital day-to-day operations.

SureSeT offers a wide range of benefits over traditional equipment, including:
  • Digital enabler: Gain insight into day-to-day operations with remote access to health monitoring, predictions, documents and more
  • Compact design: Optimize space in commercial and industrial buildings with MV switchgear that’s 25% smaller than standard designs, allowing users to do more with less
  • Greater uptime: Embedded sensors detect problems earlier and predict potential issues based on real-time asset insights – maintenance is based on condition rather than time without service interruption
  • Longer lifetime: Built to last through 30,000 operations – 3x the industry standard
  • Real-time monitoringMinimize potential equipment issues with complete 360° insight into digital operations from a safe working distance

Beyond durability and compact design, SureSeT offers comprehensive monitoring including thermal, environmental and circuit breaker health. With capabilities such as remote control and digital services based on real-time data, SureSeT can reduce downtime, and result in quicker detection of issues for faster repairs. This is a critical step for businesses that rely on large amounts of power for critical work, including manufacturers, hospitals, and data centers.

“We are witnessing how digital transformations like the Internet of Things (IoT), the Cloud, and data analytics are making electrical applications more powerful than we could have imagined a few years ago. We are ushering in a new energy world that offers brand-new possibilities. For power professionals, there is an urgent need to maximize performance of crucial infrastructure and we are committed to helping customers embrace new technologies. At Schneider Electric, our goal is zero electrical safety incidents, zero unplanned downtime, zero energy waste, and zero cybersecurity issues.”

Shitiz Agarwal, Vice President of Power Systems at Schneider Electric Canada.

The new MV switchgear is part of Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxureTM open, interoperable IoT-enabled system architecture and platform that provides innovation at every level and is covered by end-to-end cybersecurity. To access data from remote devices, it can also be shared via cloud connection to digital services, like EcoStruxureTM Asset Advisor to fully optimize system interoperability.

The EvoPacT circuit breaker is key to SureSeT’s integrated condition monitoring capabilities, allowing operators to manage, prioritize and triage impending equipment issues, increasing facility uptimes. This also enables technicians to remain at a safe working distance by using native wireless communications to operate equipment and gather data. EvoPacT breakers are equipped with digital technology that unlocks state-of-the-art capabilities, providing insight into electrical distribution systems, combining sensors, apps, services, and a digital logbook.
