ENMAX Appoints 2 New Board Members

Eric Markell and Elise Rees have joined the Board of Directors for Calgary-based ENMAX. They bring a combined wealth of experience and knowledge from the electricity industry and financial profession that will serve ENMAX well in its mission to safely and responsibly provide electricity and energy services to people, businesses and communities.

Eric Markell, founder of Markell & Company LLC, has more than 35 years experience in the utility and power industry in the areas of corporate finance, accounting, regulatory relations and rate-making, asset acquisition, generation operation and construction, project finance and project development.

In 2015, Markell became a co-founder of Trident Winds LLC, an early stage California offshore wind-development company, and is a former senior executive of Puget Energy Inc., and its Washington-based utility subsidiary, Puget Sound Energy. Markell has been a frequent speaker and panelist on energy matters and has been a guest lecturer at various colleges and universities.

Elise Rees is a strategic senior executive with more than 35 years’ experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions with a significant tax focus. She was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network. Having spent 35 years in public practice, Ms. Rees has advised boards and senior management on complex issues and holds experience across a large variety of industries including energy, mining, infrastructure, construction, real estate, retail and distribution. Rees also has extensive board experience, supporting a number of non-for profit and trade organizations.

Long-standing board member Jim Hankinson is retiring from the board.

ENMAX Corporation makes, moves and sells electricity to residential, small business and large commercial customers, and is headquartered in Calgary, AB, with offices in Edmonton. ENMAX Power Corporation owns and operates transmission and distribution infrastructure in Calgary and ENMAX Energy Corporation owns diverse electricity generation facilities throughout the province.
