Apprentice Demand in Red Seal Trades Webinar

January 22, 2024

Join CAF-FCA and learn about the most recent apprenticeship data and projections from the Canadian System for Tracking Apprenticeship Qualifications (CANTRAQ). This forecast is especially generated for CAF-FCA members. Based on recent trends in registrations and the historic rates of completion, approximately 144,200 apprentices are projected to certify in a Red Seal trade over the next five years. Over the same time period, Canada is anticipated to lose 111,760 certified workers to retirement. This will result in a skills gap of an anticipated 28,260 certified workers, when coupled with employment growth. The projected skills gap is in addition to more than 53,000 unfilled positions for skilled journeypersons estimated in 2022.

Taken together, Canada is likely to need closer to 225,000 additional journeypersons over the next five years to alleviate current challenges and keep pace with future demands. Gain additional insights by attending the webinar. Have an opportunity to share your ideas about how to address these labour market challenges.
