ECABC 72nd Annual General Meeting & Conference: Houle Electric Wins Inaugural Innovation Award

ECABC extends a big thank you to all who attended their Conference & 72nd AGM on June 20–21, 2024 at the picturesque Penticton Lakeside Resort & Conference Centre. “It was a blast seeing everyone there!”

The Welcome Reception at Poplar Grove Winery provided a great networking opportunity with an incredible view and great food.

The AGM drew an impressive crowd of nearly 150 attendees, treated to insights from a stellar lineup of speakers.

“We were honoured to host Keynote Speaker Richard Zussman, Global BC Legislative Reporter. We also enjoyed presentations by motivational speaker Angus Reid, and Charlotte Mitha, Executive Vice-President, Operations at BC Hydro. The economic panel featured insights from David van Hemmen, Vice President of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade; Rob Mackay-Dunn, Vice President, Government & Public Affairs at the BC Maritime Employers Association; and Alexa Young, Vice President, Policy, Government Relations & Public Affairs for New Economy Canada,” said ECABC on their website.

Congratulations to Houle Electric Limited, the winner of the inaugural Innovation Award (theme: Green Infrastructure) for their Third Space Commons project. This near-zero carbon single-family residential building was constructed in collaboration with the UBC Third Quadrant student design team and several industry partners. The project stands as a testament to innovation and sustainability, setting a new standard for green living.

The Association also celebrated Rob Romaniuk of Elworthy Electrical Services Ltd., the 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award winner. “Rob’s outstanding contributions to ECABC have been invaluable! His dedication and support have brightened our days and strengthened our community. Rob’s tireless efforts in mentoring, organizing events and fostering a spirit of camaraderie within our organization have truly made a difference.”

Finally, ECABC extended a warm welcome to our newest Hall of Fame inductees, Stan Hussey and Mark Bemister. “Their contributions to the industry and community have left a lasting legacy, and we are proud to honour them.”
