Statement on Behalf of Trio of North American Electrical Industry Associations in Support of Free Trade in Electrical Goods Between Canada, Mexico and the United States
December 13, 2024
Electro-Federation Canada (EFC), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and Cámara Nacional de Manufacturas Eléctricas (CANAME) issued the following statement in support of free trade in electrical industry goods between Canada, Mexico, and the United States:
“The North American electrical industry powers the economies of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The electrical industry provides products and services that are essential in developing national infrastructure, increasing manufacturing competitiveness, supporting more efficient use of our energy resources, enhancing economy-wide resilience, and driving leadership in next-generation mobility.
“The USMCA/CUSMA/T-MEC has been instrumental in attracting new investment, growing jobs and manufacturing in all three countries, increasing supply chain resiliency, and ensuring North American competitiveness and leadership in technologies and industries of the future. The USMCA/CUSMA/T-MEC has spurred exports of electrical goods – increasing inter-regional trade by 40% since July 2020 – and has created a more globally competitive North American electrical industry. We look forward to working with the political leadership in all three countries on policies and initiatives that further drive investment, manufacturing, and jobs in this key sector and beyond.”
