efficiencyPEI was recognized with a national award for its work in providing Islanders with energy efficiency information and programs. 

The ENERGY STAR® Canada Awards acknowledge outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements. This year, efficiencyPEI received the Advocate of the Year award. 

efficiencyPEI has won a total of 10 ENERGY STAR Canada awards since 2008, including six Advocate of the Year wins and four Program Administrator of the Year prizes. 

ENERGY STAR Canada helps empower people to make informed decisions that reduce their environmental impact. The blue ENERGY STAR sticker on products like dehumidifiers and windows signifies that the product meets rigorous energy efficiency standards to help households reduce energy use and save on utility bills.

Solar Electric Rebate Program

efficiencyPEI and Net Zero incentives are changing, including a change to the solar incentive rate and a cap of $5,000 for solar panels installed on residential properties. Anyone with a pre-approval letter will receive the previous rebate amount, and those who applied on or after January 8, 2025, and are eligible, will receive the new rebate amount. Solar rebates for commercial operations will not change. Rebates for agriculture operations will also stay the same.

Residential (Homes) – $1,000/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $10,000.

To be eligible, the building must receive the residential rate on the electric bill.

Businesses – $350/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $10,000.

To be eligible, the building must receive the general service 1 rate or the small industrial rate on the electric bill

Farm buildings – $1250/kilowatt DC, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $35,000 

Must be a non-residential building owned and operated by a bona fide farmer. 

Residential (Homes) – $500/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $5,000.

To be eligible, the building must receive the residential rate on the electric bill.

Businesses – $350/kilowatt DC installed, up to 40% of installed costs, to a maximum of $10,000.

To be eligible, the building must receive the general service 1 rate or the small industrial rate on the electric bill

Electric Vehicle Incentive

The Government of Prince Edward Island is offering a rebate of $4000 for eligible electric vehicles and $2000 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, as of June 2, 2025.

Vehicles purchased prior to June 2, 2025 may be eligible for the prior rebate structure of $5750 for eligible electric vehicles and $3250 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Energy Efficient Equipment Rebates

efficiencyPEI offers rebates for the installation of Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships Cold Climate Air-Source Heat Pump Specification (NEEP ccASHP) air source heat pumps, ENERGY STAR® certified heating equipment including geothermal heat pumps, water heating devices, biomass heating devices, and other energy saving products.
