ESA is seeking one representative to sit on its Electrical Contractor Registration Agency Advisory Council (ECRA AC) — a member from the community at large.

The Electrical Safety Authority’s mission is to improve electrical safety for the well-being of the people of Ontario. ESA’s mandate is to promote and undertake activities which enhance public electrical safety including training, inspection, authorization, investigation, registration, enforcement, audit and other regulatory and non-regulatory public electrical safety quality assurance services.
ECRA AC was established to seek feedback, monitor, review and provide advice and recommendations to the ESA on matters related to licensing, examination and registration of persons or businesses for different types of electrical work throughout the province of Ontario.
Why Serve on the ECRA Advisory Council?
Serving on the ECRA Advisory Council is an opportunity to support the professionalism and vitality of Ontario’s licensed electrical community. In its advisory capacity, the Council helps ensure that Licensed Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians receive the clarity, recognition, and support they need to uphold high standards of electrical safety, consumer protection, and industry integrity. By bringing forward diverse perspectives from across the province, members help strengthen a licensing framework that reflects the realities of the industry and the needs of license holders.
The Council also plays an important role in strengthening consumer protection and advancing electrical safety in Ontario. The Council’s advice helps inform the development of initiatives and practices that uphold integrity within the sector and support ESA’s efforts to identify and address non‑compliant activity. By offering insights and recommendations, Council members help shape initiatives that enhance public confidence and contribute to a safer electrical landscape for everyone.
Eligibility and Competency Criteria
Members are expected to:
- Communicate with their network and seek input around ESA initiatives;
- Maintain independence and objectivity;
- Act ethically, fairly and with personal integrity; and
- Represent the views of the public
Note: Knowledge of licensing/registrant processes, regulatory frameworks, and/or electrical contracting in Ontario is preferred.
Acceptance of nominees are subject to review and approval by the Regulatory, Governance, People & Culture Committee and Board of ESA.
