Philips Lighting And American Tower Partner to Develop Smart Street Lighting
Wireless infrastructure provider American Tower Corporation has formed an alliance with Philips Lighting to co-develop a high performance smart street lighting pole for smart city applications in the US. The project will focus on US development but will inevitably have implications for wider use as Smart technology continues to make its way into public spaces.
New Fee to Activate a Charging Station Through CAA-Quebec Help Line
Starting September 8, 2017, a $2 fee will be charged to your Electric Circuit account for all requests to activate an electric vehicle charging station through the CAA-Québec help line. This will be in addition to the cost of your charge.

Electricians Provide Assistance in TD Centre’s 50th Anniversary Illumination Project
Contractors Guild, Ainsworth, Symtech, Plan and ACML donated their services to temporarily reconfigure the buildings’ automated lighting systems, while a crew of staff and volunteers worked to open and close blinds on over 6,000 windows across the TD Centre’s five towers to create the message “Less is more or” in 100-foot-tall lights.

An electrical utility contractor in southwestern Ontario has pleaded guilty and been fined $70,000, after two workers suffered burn injuries last year.
Little Long Hydropower Plant to Undergo Complete Retrofit
The Little Long plant on the Mattagami River in Ontario is about to undergo its first significant upgrade since coming online in 1963. Like many other hydro plants, it’s remained virtually unchanged. Ontario Power Generation recently hired GE for a complete mechanical overhaul of Little Long’s two oldest turbines.

Hydro-Québec is Sponsoring TeamMTL’s Entry in Solar Decathlon
Hydro-Québec will sponsor TeamMTL’s entry in the Solar Decathlon China 2018, which takes place in Dezhou, Shandong Province, in northeastern China. Hydro-Québec, with the support of Québec’s Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles, will provide the team with $250,000 in funding, as well as in-kind support, to help complete the construction of its green residential design concept.
Schneider Electric to Merge with British Software Company AVEVA
Schneider Electric has agreed to merge with British software company AVEVA in a deal worth nearly $4 billion. The two companies tried to merge two previous times, and plan to have the deal completed before the end of 2017. Schneider will own 60% of the combined company.
