Intertek Warns of Counterfeit ETL Certification Mark on Surge Protectors

October 12, 2016

Surge protectors identified in the photo bear counterfeit Intertek Certification Marks for Canada and the United States.

The surge protectors can short circuit when non-grounded plugs are connected, posing a shock or fire hazard. These products have not been evaluated by Intertek and it is not known if they comply with any safety requirements.

This recall involves three models of surge protectors, Idealist (360320), Idealist 2.4 (360321) and Agent (360322). The model number is located on the underside of the unit. The units have 7 outlets, come in black or white, and measure 14.5 inches long by 2.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall. “360electrical” is printed on the front of the units.

Recalled surge protectors do not have a single check mark engraved on the underside of the unit, right next to the model number. About 1,000 were sold in Canada.

Purchasers should immediately stop using the recalled surge protectors. Contact 360 Electrical for a free replacement at 844-827-4207, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT Monday through Friday, or online at www.360electrical.com. Hover over “Support” at the top of the page, click on “Warranty,” then click on “Agent, Idealist and Idealist 2.4 RECALL INFO” for more information.
