Worker Sustains Electrical Shock at Bruce Power GS
April 6, 2017
An electrical worker on the non-radiological side of the Bruce Power Generating Station near Kincardine, Ontario recently received an electrical shock and was taken to hospital.
The worker was stable throughout the emergency response, and was later released from hospital. The worker had been performing scheduled maintenance on a circuit breaker in Unit 5, a “non-nuclear” part of the generating station.
The engineering barrier, in place to protect workers from electrical voltage, failed to operate resulting in the worker injury. All electrical work stopped until further investigation of the incident was completed.
